I Am the Good Shepherd Coloring Page

For the past few weeks, we’ve been looking at the “I AM” statements of Christ. Continuing with this series, this week’s coloring page is taken from John 10:11. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”

We have a Good Shepherd

The Bible has a lot to say about the Lord’s role as our shepherd. Perhaps the best-known passage is Psalm 23:

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures: He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul: He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for You art with me; Your rod and Your staff they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies:
You anoint my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

He Leads Us Still Today

Aren’t you thankful for the Lord’s gentle leading during this time of uncertainty? The present Coronavirus quarantine has certainly slowed life down considerably, hasn’t it?

I feel like God is forcing me to rest during this season. My Good Shepherd is leading me beside still waters and making me lie down in quiet, peaceful pastures, at least metaphorically speaking. I’m really just lounging inside the house on my couch or in my bed, but the lawns outside our windows are becoming visibly greener with each passing day!

I’ve occasionally even changed out of my nightgown long enough to stroll around outdoors enjoying the fresh air and sunshine, admiring the spring blossoms.

What’s more, my Good Shepherd has been faithful to supply all my needs. I may not be able to find all my favorites at the grocery store right now, but we have food to eat, clothes to wear, a roof over our heads, and — so far — we haven’t run out of toilet paper.

And, though several of our family members work in the healthcare industry and therefore face a greater risk of exposure to COVID-19, we are not giving in to fear. Our Good Shepherd is continually with us, even as we “walk through the valley of the shadow of death.” He comforts us with His presence and with a pece that passes understanding.

I pray that same peace will wash over you this morning as you call upon His name — and maybe even complete this Good Shepherd coloring page. Let it serve as a timely reminder that we have a Savior whom we can trust to care for us fully through every crisis. Bless you, friend!

Dear Jennifer, thank you for sharing. I pray for the Lord to be a shield around your loved ones working at the frontlines of the medical field. God bless you.

My second read for the year was an audiobook by Robert and Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth called You Can Trust God to Write Your Story. I found it both enjoyable and encouraging.
