Sitting with the Elders Coloring Page

Today is Father’s Day, so it seems a good time to share this new Sitting with the Elders Coloring Page. The printable features Proverbs 31:23. “Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land. It joins my series on the virtuous woman coloring pages.

Proverbs 3110-31 is one of my all-time favorite passages. But it’s also a passage I find personally convicting. It highlights God’s design for the family, with husband and wife working together, each doing their part, to build a home and raise a family.

He is able to do the things he does — including fulfilling community responsibilities like meeting with the elders at the gates of the city — because his wife has been faithful in fulfilling the responsibilities in her realm, which include cooking, teaching, caring for the household, doing handwork, investing her time wisely. The list goes on and on.

It’s a good reminder that honoring our husband and serving and supporting him is not something we can relegate to just one day a year, like Father’s Day. It is a gift we should cheerfully give, day in, day out. The entire family will be blessed by our continual efforts to be a faithful helpmeet to our spouse.
