Working with Delight Coloring Page

Today I’m sharing the latest installment in our Virtuous Woman series: a free printable Working with Delight Coloring Page. It features the words of Proverbs 31:13,

Different Bible translations render parts of this verse a little differently:

• “looks for” is sometimes translated: “seeks,” “finds,” “searches for,” “selects” or “obtains”
• “works with her hands in delight” can also be translated: “works willingly,” “works with eager hands,” “keeps herself busy,” “works gladly,” “works with willing hands,” “is pleased to work with her hands,” “weaves skillfully with her hands,” “makes it serviceable by her hands,” or “hath wrought by the counsel of her hands.”

I love doing handcrafts of all kinds, but for me it is just a hobby. Something I do for enjoyment. To relax. For the virtuous woman, it was a needful chore that had to be attended to in a timely fashion if her family were to have warm clothes to wear through the winter.

That provides a different perspective, doesn’t it? It’s one thing to take delight in doing hobbies one enjoys. It’s quite another to willingly ad eagerly tackle our necessary chores with pleasure and delight.

That’s why, even though I love doing needlework and am seldom without some project in my hands to work on, I still feel conviction when I read this verse. Because I want to be the kind of woman who eagerly searches out the tasks around my home that need to be done, and attends to them with a happy heart, delighted for the opportunity to offer service to God through serving the family He’s blessed me with so abundantly!
