November 19 marks the birthday of our 20th US President, so that makes this a fitting time to share my new James Garfield Coloring Page
Do you know why else it’s the perfect time for posting this free printable? Because our mid-term elections were less than two week’s ago — and Garfield’s quote rings just as true today as when he first said it:
“Now more than ever the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption.”
Garfield was right. We get what we tolerate. Even if we aren’t personally casting votes for reckless and corrupt candidates, if we remain ignorant concerning the issues — including election integrity — or we tolerate shady voting practices such as ballot harvesting, unmanned drop boxes, unsigned/undated mail-in ballots, and printers that mysteriously quit working in the most conservative precincts in a state, rendering all the ballots cast there illegible — then aren’t we equally culpable for the results?
