Pray without Ceasing Coloring Page

If ever there were a time to pray without ceasing, 2020 is it. And today’s free printable coloring page reminds us to do exactly that.

It features 1 Thessalonians 5:17, which puts it plainly: “Never stop praying.” Other translations render this verse “pray continually,” “pray constantly,” “pray unceasingly,” or “pray at all times.”

Stay on Your Knees

1 Thessalonians is not the only place we find this command. We read similar imperatives in the following verses:

  • Ephesians 6:18 – “Pray in the Spirit at all times with every kind of prayer and request. Likewise, be alert with your most diligent efforts and pray for all the saints.”
  • Philippians 4:6 – “Be anxious about nothing. But in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”
  • Colossians 4:2 – “Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving”

As I mentioned before, 2020 seems the perfect time to put constant prayer into practice if you aren’t already in the habit of praying unceasingly. Between the coronavirus pandemic, the contentious election, not-so-peaceful protests, devastating storms and fires, and economic uncertainty, we need the empowering grace of God to help us weather these trials.

The best part? He’s willing and able to do “exceeding abundantly beyond all we think or imagine.” (Ephesians 3:20) All we have to do is ask. (Matthew 7:7)

  1. It has improved my prayer life tremendously. Thank you for this resource. As a mom, I am at a loss for words at times.

    1. So glad to hear that, Ana. And even first century Christians understood being at a loss for words. As we read in Romans 8:26, “In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words….”

  2. Thank you so much for making these lovely pages available. I will be working with kids and talking a lot about prayer. These will be a great resource!
