Our landlord recently passed away. A couple of months ago, his heirs informed us his estate was being liquified, including the house we’ve been renting for the past several years. So we started scrambling for a new place to live in a hurry.

Fortunately for us, my husband found just the place: A beautiful home under construction in our same neighborhood, approximately 90-days from completion.

Construction Work

Construction was far enough along that we couldn’t change the floorplan or structural design. But it was far enough from finished that we were able to write Bible verses on the frame of the house. And choose paint colors and light fixtures for the interior. And add lots of extra cabinets and built-ins to suit the needs of our family. What a blessing!

Construction Work

The house is now just a couple of weeks from finished, and — as with any building project — we’ve encountered our fair share of setbacks and frustrations. Situations have cropped up repeatedly that might potentially be bad for our blood pressure, but have been great for our prayer life!

We are constantly being reminded of the fact that, even though we have far less control in this situation than we’d like, none of the frustrations we’ve faced have taken God by surprise. He is the blessed controller of all things.

And, do you know what? I think we are exactly where He wants us. For as we read in His Word:

“Unless the Lord build the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless the Lord guard the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain.” (Psalm 127:1)

So we are praying this house to completion, and trusting Him to work out the details. Which brings me to this week’s coloring page:

Let the Lord Build Your House

I hope you like it. And I hope when you face frustrations in any area of your life, that you won’t let them drive your blood pressure up, but rather that they will drive you to your knees. Turn all the problems over to God, and let Him take care of them.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing these! Our family is preparing to move out of our home during a big remodel, and I’m printing some of your pages to keep my girls busy (and encouraged!) while we’re in transition. This one is especially fitting. Thanks again!

    1. I somehow missed this comment when it first came through, Thea, but I hope your move and remodeling project have gone smoothly. I’m glad you like my printables. 🙂

  2. Dear Jennifer ~
Your faithful leaning on scripture is most appealing to me as well as the the frequent use of the vintage art that I find charming. Thank you for adding such pleasure to my 78-y-o heart and giving me the opportunity to work on something that is “Just right for ________, because she mentioned being familiar with that verse from her growing-up years.” Just yesterday I took a full color page I’d completed painting with gel pens, scanned it, used Windows Paint and cleaned up the areas where I’d colored outside the lines. (I fall asleep and my hand with the gel pen keeps “sliding slowly southward” on too many occasions lately! I’ve not found any satisfactory way to erase/cover my mistakes. JOT pens seem the best, but leave the marks showing they’ve been there.) After that, I saved the scanned design, inserted, and then printed it for a card front. I like to use pictures I color as card fronts because I prefer to put my own sayings on the insides.
For now, I have plenty to keep me occupied and since it appears you do as well, I’ll not continue with my chatty message, Before leaving, however, I absolutely must say, “THANK YOU!”
    Sincerely ~

    1. I’m so glad you wrote, Marilyn Sue. I love chatty messages, and I especially love your idea about scanning your finished artwork to use as the front of homemade greeting cards. I’m a big letter writer, too, and will have to try that idea myself sometime soon! And you are certainly welcome for the coloring pages. I enjoy making them and am more than happy to share!

    1. Thanks, Keri. We’re so excited about it. It looks even better now that the brick is finished. Driveways and sidewalks go in this week, then landscaping, then we’ll be all ready to move in!
