A Fun Quilling Kit for Beginners

One of my favorite things about taking a summer break from homeschooling is that my children and I both have more time for two of our favorite pastimes: reading for pleasure and learning new crafts. And the craft we’ve been learning this week is one called quilling, thanks to a new Beginner’s Quilling Kit we got from Timberdoodle.

My daughters love crafting as much as I do. And three of us tried the kit out together. Since it contained only one set of tools, we took turns using those. But there were enough supplies to complete a dozen or more different projects. So we each picked our favorite pattern and got started.

The actual twisting of the paper goes pretty fast. So we never had to wait very long for our turn using the tool. It took longer to measure and shape the coils and position them in a pleasing way on the card or frame.

I especially liked the circular plastic measuring guide included with the kit. I’d done a little quilling before, but never had access to one of these. It made it so easy to keep everything uniform!

And that is true whether you keep your coiled paper in a circular shape or pinch it into a teardrop, diamond, or square.

However you want to do it, this Beginner’s Quilling Kit breaks down the process and makes it easy. I know my children are older now, but this craft is easy enough, an eight-year-old can do it.

Fortunately, I have plenty of supplies left to try the craft with some of my younger grandchildren, which I’m planning to do when they’re at my house on Monday. I expect their results will be just as delightful!

Do you have kids (or grandkids) who love crafting as much as we do? Whether you’re looking for a fun summer project or something to keep creative juices flowing during the school year, Beginner’s Quilling Kit is well worth checking out.
