Pirates Crossfire Game

Pirates Crossfire Game

Our family has been cruising on the open seas all week, so this is a fitting time to review a fun new thinking game I recently got from Timberdoodle called Pirates Crossfire.

Pirates Crossfire Game

Designed for ages 7 and up, this single player game contains 80 different challenges in four modes of play ranging in skill level from easy to expert.

To solve the puzzle, you’ve got to arrange two fleets of ships on the board in the specified mode. In order to master the game, you’ll need to be mindful of the mode you are playing in: Peace Times, Pirates Win, Navy Wins, or All Out War.

In times of peace, you must insure neither the pirates nor the navy have a clear shot at the other’s ships.

For Pirates Win or Navy Wins, only the victors get a clear shot at the opponent’s boats, but the opponent’s ships must be situated in such a way that they are unable to return fire or defend themselves in any way.

And in the All Out War, it’s a free-for-all: The navy can fire upon pirates. The pirates can fire upon the navy. It’s cannon fire everywhere you turn (metaphorically speaking — the game contains no actual cannonballs. Ha!).

Although there are many ways to fit all the game pieces on the board, there is only one correct solution to each challenge in each mode. The question is, how long will it take you to find it?
