Every Bird and Insect Coloring Page

I’ve been working in my flower beds this week. Pulling weeds. Admiring blossoms. Listening to birds. And observing butterflies. Which is what prompted me to share this Every Bird and Insect coloring page.
It features Psalm 50:11: “I know every bird in the mountains, and the insects in the fields are mine.”
This is the NIV version. Some others translate that last part “animals,” “creatures,” or “wild beasts” of the field. Either way, we know it all belongs to God and was created by Him. And aren’t you glad He created such variety and beauty for us to enjoy?
I love butterflies for two reasons: First, because their stunning colors and delicate form is a testament to God’s creativity.
And second, because their metamorphosis is a reminder to me of the new life we have in Christ:
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

2026 UPDATE: We visited a butterfly house at the Botanical Gardens in Fort Collins, Colorado yesterday (free entry with our Dallas Arboretum membership) and got some magnificent up-close views of a wide variety of North American butterflies.

What was really interesting, though, that one swallowtail landed on our clipboard, walked up to the photo of a fellow swallowtail on the corner of our board, and perched there for the remainder of our tour. All our efforts to hold him close to other real butterflies or to the food left in strategic spots all around completely disinterested him. He didn’t budge from that spot until we handed our clipboard in at the conclusion of our walk.
