Setting Goals for Your Children
Just as having a clear vision of what you want to do helps you reach your personal goals, having a well-defined gameplan for your child will help keep him moving in the right direction, as well. As a homeschool mom, there are many areas I must take into consideration when assessing each of my children’s progress. I use the following chart to help define areas of strength and identify areas that need extra work. I am then able to prayfully set specific goals for each child and to map out a plan for reaching those goals. Most of this is done without input from very young children, although I will often use star charts and other such incentives to get them on board with my gameplan. As the children grow older, however, they become more and more involved in the process, so that by the time they are grown, they are adept at determining their own goals and developing a schedule and strategy for achieving them.
