Harry Truman Coloring Page

Not only does today (May 8) mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, but it also happens to be the birthday of our 33rd US President. So I’m sharing this Harry Truman Coloring Page to celebrate the occasion.
That is fitting, since Truman succeeded to the presidency on April 12, 1945, upon the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt and was therefore our Commander in Chief when Nazi Germany officially and unconditionally surrendered to the Allied forces.
I love the quote featured on this coloring page: “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you don’t care who gets the credit.” Isn’t that so true?

It’s not the only pithy saying to cross Truman’s lips. A few other Truman quotes I like include the following:
- “The only thing new in the world is the history you don’t know.”
- “There are always a lot of people so afraid of rocking the boat that they stop rowing. We can never get ahead that way.”
- “Imperfect action is better than perfect inaction.”
- “A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities and an optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties.”
- “Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.”
- “Work Hard. Do your best. Keep your word. Never get too big for your britches. Trust in God. Have no fear; and never forget a friend.”
- “It doesn’t matter how big a ranch you own or how many cows you brand, the size of your funeral is still gonna depend on the weather.”
