Baby Sign Language Flash Cards

One of the products in the new Timberdoodle catalog that I just love is this sweet set of Baby Sign Language Flash Cards. [2026 UPDATE: These cards are now out of print, but you can find a similar set on Amazon.

They are bright and colorful with photographs of an item on one side of the card and pictorial instructions for how to sign it on on the opposite side.

Not only do the babies in our family like these flash cards, but their older siblings (and aunts, uncles, parents, and grandparents) do, too!

The cards are sturdy enough to withstand being handled by tiny fingers (though they won’t hold up to being chewed).

And the signing instructions are simple enough to be understood even by pre-readers.

The flashcard format allows you to teach/ review just a few select cards at a time, adding more vocabulary words as the first signs are mastered.

Then, you can simply show the photo side of the card to the kids and see if they can sign it without checking the instructions on the reverse.
