IQ Six Pro (a Timberdoodle Review)

IQ Six Pro

Our family has always loved thinking games. So we jumped at the chance to review a copy of IQ Six Pro for Timberdoodle recently.

IQ Six Pro

The first thing I like about IQ Six Pro is that it’s very compact. It would easily fit in a coat pocket ar the side pouch of a backpack.

one-player game

Second, I like the fact the game is versatile. It includes 120 different challenges at multiple levels of difficulty and three different playing modes.

critical thinking game

Designed for ages 8 and up, the easier challenges can be finished quickly. Once you’ve completed a puzzle, just close the lid. Everything stores compactly away until you’re ready to tackle another challenge.

That shouldn’t take very long, as the game is a little addictive. How many puzzles can you finish in five minutes? In ten? I’d so much rather see my kids sharpening their thinking skills with this kind of activity than mindlessly scrolling on a cellphone.

building a pyramid

Once you’ve completed all the puzzles on the inside board, flip the case over to build the butterfly-shaped challenges on the back.

That adds another layer of difficulty to the game, but it’s fun to race against your own record.

Can you finish the next puzzle even faster than you finished the last? Maybe. Maybe not. That’s especially true when you begin to tackle the 3-D challenges.

Building those little pyramids will really hone your spacial reasoning skills. Even the “easy” challenges that spell out exactly which color goes where take a lot of time and thought to fully work out.

pyramid building

That’s the level we’re currently at. None of us have tackled the pyramids that are missing colors yet. But it’s only a matter of time before we’ll be ready to do so.
