“Give Thanks to God” Matching Game
I recently received a sweet message from a reader telling me her family has enjoyed playing my Thanksgiving and Christmas games for years and asking if I would consider publishing some new ones. I thought that was a great idea, so today I’m sharing my brand new “Give Thanks to God” Matching Game.
The idea of “giving thanks” always begs the question “to whom?” And the Bible is quick to supply the answer! How many of the following verses about thanksgiving can you locate in God’s Word? And how quickly?
- “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, & into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, & bless His name.”
- “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
- “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.”
- “Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.”
I’ve included twelve scripture verses in all. I won’t list them all here, as I don’t want to give anybody playing the game an unfair advantage. Why not print several copies, pass them out to your family or friends, and race to see who can be first to match each verse to its correct citation?
Players are free to look up unfamiliar verses in the Bible to double check their answers, but that will really slow you down. The more faithfully you read your Bible — and the more of it you hide in your heart — the better you’re likely to do on this “Give Thanks to God” matching game. 😊
