Jennifer FlandersI graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in mathematics and did two years of graduate work in the same field before settling down to keep house and raise children. When folks accuse me of “wasting” my degree, I simply tell them I’ve used it to “stay home and multiply”

It also comes in handy when teaching calculus to our high schoolers. We’ve homeschooled all our children since the beginning and have graduated five of the twelve now (When Joseph graduates in May, I’ll be halfway done!).

When I’m not spending time with my husband or teaching our kids, I like to make scrapbooks, to read (and write) good books, to indulge in a wide variety of handcrafts, and to occasionally jog around the block. In addition to blogging at this website on the topics of education, organization, housekeeping, and family fun, I can also be found at my other blog, Loving Life at Home, where I mainly write about marriage, motherhood, and feminism. If you’d like to read more, check out my books.

A Few of My Favorite Hymns:

Below are a few acapella selections I recorded several years ago at the request of one of my aunts. Although I enjoy the praise music we sing at church, I miss all the doctrinally-rich hymns I learned as a child, so I keep an open hymnal by my kitchen sink and sing them at home while cooking meals or washing dishes.

And when I’m not singing hymns, I like to make up my own lyrics to popular tunes, such as these:

Jennifer – I bumped into your blog as I was searching for Prayers for Husband and I started reading the Head to Toe prayers for husband which I found immensely helpful. I read them at work when I get a chance and I have been so blessed by it. Later, as I read your blogs I realized you are one super-mom! What a testimony your life is to us young mothers and what a great encouragement as we trust in God to build our families. I love you and your family so very much! I wish I get a chance to meet you. I live in Minnesota. By any chance, are you closer to the white north?

No, Rebekah, we live in the Piney Woods of East Texas. But my husband had an aunt and uncle from Minnesota. They’ve both passed on now, but we used to visit them in their home near Austin.

I’m so glad you’ve been encouraged by my writing. Thank you for taking the time to let me know that. It means a lot to me.

I would have been happy to give a demonstration had you asked, Chole. I love to sing! And yes, I do remember you. You brought your husband by our booth to introduce him after my talk on Saturday, right? I hope you enjoy the book. Let me know what you think once you finish it, okay?

It is encouraging to see a woman serving the Lord and her family. Thanks for making this website for others to be encouraged. I currently have 5 little ones bring up in the Lord. We often visit the Tyler area to go camping 2 or 3 times a year. We love your area of Texas. God bless you.

May I ask how old you are Jennifer? I am 39 and would love to have more children. Have you had any of your lovely family after reaching that age?

I’m closing in on 48, Candy. I’ve delivered three of our children since turning 39. Our most recent baby (still hoping she won’t be our last) was born the day before I turned 45. I did conceive again at age 46, but am sad to report I miscarried that little one very early in my pregnancy. Blessings upon you and your family, Candy! Let me know if God grants your wish. Babies are a joy at any age, aren’t they?

Thank you for your time and effort into making this website possible with all of the helpful tips, resources, and encouragement; as well as a peak into your family life – what a blessing to see the Lord’s hand in each of your lives.

And thank you, Jennifer, for always challenging and encouraging me in my relationship with Jesus, and for teaching me to “love my husband and children, and to be a keeper at home”. You have done this verbally, but mostly by example as you “serve the Lord Jesus Christ”. It’s been a joy to watch you as you: trust the Lord during trials; have a part in “making your husband known in the gates” as you honor him; “look well to the ways of your household”. Your children are so blessed to have you as a mom, and your husband is blessed to have you as his wife. And I am blessed to have you as a friend and sister-in-Christ. I thank the Lord for what He has done and is doing in your life to bring glory to Himself.
