Parents often ask us about our philosophy on children’s chores, but we’ve found that what many of them are really looking for is some idea of what sorts of chores their child might be expected to do at what ages<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So to that end, I’ve created this little free printable chart, available in English<\/a>, as well as Spanish<\/a>, French<\/a>, German<\/a>, and Italian<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, every child is different, but most kids are capable of doing far more than parents require of them. <\/strong>I love what dear Abby has to say about the benefits of giving children chores:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Few things do more for a child\u2019s sense of confidence and responsibility than learning to do household chores thoroughly, consistently, cheerfully, and without being reminded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our kids all realize that their contribution to family life is important. They know that we depend on them to help keep our home looking good and running smoothly. And they\u2019ve learned to work hard, usually without complaining. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This work ethic will serve them well when they are grown. Below is a description of how we divide and rotate chore assignments in our family, as well as the reasoning behind these decisions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
