“The liberties of a people depend on their own constant attention to its preservation.”<\/p>\n

Sadly, we have recently seen how quickly our freedoms and liberties are eroded when we stop being vigilant to protect and preserve them. <\/p>\n

Harrison offered another quote that gives insight as to how such an erosion takes place. He said, “There is nothing more corrupting, nothing more destructive of the noblest and finest feelings of our nature, than the exercise of unlimited power.”<\/p>\n

Our founding fathers, recognizing what was at stake, wisely tried to balance such powers from the outset. But they didn’t count on the general populace’s willingness to sign over their freedoms for a shaky promise of safety and security during periods of crisis.<\/p>\n

It’s time to wake up, hold our elected officials accountable, and demand they return the freedoms that our Constitution and Bill of Rights guarantee us. And pray to God that our efforts aren’t too little too late.<\/p>\n
