I recently ordered a fun new journal from Timberdoodle that I’m planning to put in my 12-year-old daughter’s stocking this Christmas. (Shhh! Don’t tell!) It’s called My 52 Lists Project<\/a>, and it is designed to get kids writing — even those who might not normally enjoy doing so.<\/p>\n

\"My<\/p>\n

The concept is simple: 52 writing prompts for 52 lists on a variety of topics. Kids can do one a week and finish the entire book in a year — or three a week and finish in a single semester.<\/p>\n

\"My<\/p>\n

Staring at a blank page is intimidating for many beginning writers — old and young alike. But these list ideas provide an easy starting point. The journalist can make the list as long or short, detailed or simple as she likes.<\/p>\n

\"17<\/p>\n

Prompts include such things as listing your funniest memories, your favorite ways to play, things you want to make, things that make you laugh, people you admire, etc.<\/p>\n

\"My<\/p>\n

My daughter has yet to develop a love for writing. She doesn’t keep a typical journal or diary, but I’m hoping My 52 Lists Project<\/a> will help bridge that gap. Of course, it would make a great gift for enthusiastic writers, as well as reluctant writers.
