Our family tried out a new critical thinking game recently called Illusion Cubes<\/a> — another great STEM product we got through Timberdoodle.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The puzzle contains 24 double-sided tiles and an instruction booklet filled with 120 challenging designs, arranged in gradually increasing levels of difficulty.<\/p>\n

\"Illusion<\/p>\n

Although shading makes these matte-finished puzzle pieces look like cubes, they are really relatively flat. <\/p>\n

\"Several<\/p>\n

The design incorporates a small notched lip underneath that allows one piece to slide beneath another for easier stacking.<\/p>\n

This single-player game aims to increase spacial awareness and visual perception skills. <\/p>\n

Although it was designed to be played by one person at a time, there are enough tiles that several of the simpler designs can be built simultaneously.<\/p>\n

And that fact means two players can race to finish those easier challenge, which my kids thoroughly enjoyed doing until they reached the more difficult designs farther into the booklet.<\/p>\n

But then they teamed up and completed those challenges together. <\/p>\n

So, for us, the game was not only a great exercise in critical thinking, but also in cooperation.<\/p>\n
