Recently, our family had the privilege of trying out Deep in the Jungle Sticker Mosaic Kit<\/a>, a new Djeco craft kit carried by one of our all-time favorite curriculum suppliers, Timberdoodle Co<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Close<\/p>\n

Like all Djeco arts & crafts kits, this one came with more than enough supplies to complete the projects. In this case, that included lots of shiny, metallic foam mosaic squares and a slew of sparkly rhinestones in various colors and sizes, plus complete instructions and four bright canvases to choose from.<\/p>\n

\"4<\/p>\n

My daughter Abby completed the first canvas in the car on a short day trip we took to visit her cousin. We made great use of our travel time by listening to a book on tape while she worked on the project. It kept her happily occupied during the 90-minute drive and gave her hands something creative to do on the road.<\/p>\n

What I especially love about the Deep in the Jungle Sticker Mosaic Kit<\/a> is that it is extremely low-mess. No glue. No glitter. And no paint to spill. That makes it easy to complete the projects anywhere — even in the car.<\/p>\n

It worked so perfectly well, in fact, that we saved the other three canvases for another road trip — one we took this week. Two of Abby’s brothers were with us, so that left one design for each of them, as well.<\/p>\n

Again, the project kept them quiet and happy through long hours on the road. And again, we listened to another book-on-tape while Dad drove and I worked on a low-mess craft project of my own in the front seat (when I wasn’t taking photos of the kids’ progress in the back).<\/p>\n

\"Deep<\/p>\n

The mosaic designs are pretty self-explanatory. The instruction booklets identify which colors you’ll need to complete each canvas. Then it’s a simple matter of matching up the proper colors to the tiny numbered squares on the canvas. <\/p>\n

The only thing any of us would change about this kit would be labeling the colors in some way. Several shades were so similar, it was difficult to differentiate one from another. (Of course, when they’re that close, it probably won’t matter, even if you end up picking the “wrong” shade for a particular design.)<\/p>\n

\"completing<\/p>\n

Sadly, Daniel is a little prone to motion sickness, so he soon laid his project aside. It was fun while it lasted, though.<\/p>\n

\"Deep<\/p>\n

He gave Abby permission to finish his, which she did enthusiastically. She and Gabriel put the finishing touches on those last two designs once we got to our hotel. Dad read aloud to us again this evening while they worked.<\/p>\n

Didn’t these pictures turn out nicely? I love the bright, bold colors and the iridescent stickers and crystals. I imagine they’ll do great when the kids enter their work in the creative arts competition at the fair<\/a> this year. <\/p>\n
