we used normal drawing pad paper for the initial lessons and saved the smooth bristol for final portrait drawing <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/36rwTOP\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">0.5mm Mechanical Pencil<\/a> &#8211; one of my sons preferred the mechanical pencil; the rest of us used standard wooden art pencils<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3hWW2WN\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2B Soft 0.5mm Lead<\/a> &#8211; the softness of the lead is key and yields much better results than hard lead pencils<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3yNUx4h\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Blenders &#038; Kneadable Eraser<\/a> &#8211; buy a big set of these, as you&#8217;ll use them a bunch<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2VkdX24\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ellipse Template<\/a> &#8211; helpful if you aren&#8217;t good at drawing freehand circles and ovals<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3e3PsNi\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Soft Paint Brush<\/a> &#8211;
