My little Abby has had a great time this summer helping me review products<\/strong> from Timberdoodle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A few weeks back, we tried out How to Draw Almost Everything<\/a>. Although the tutorials in that book led to noticeable improvements in her artwork<\/strong>, they were probably better suited to her older siblings.<\/p>\n

But this week’s pick is perfect for her age and skill level.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Draw<\/p>\n

It’s called Draw Patterns<\/a>, and it comes with a full set of colorful markers<\/strong> in both fine and blunt tips. (UPDATE: This packaged set is no longer available, although you can still purchase the book alone through Amazon<\/a>. Meanwhile, Timberdoodle has added to their catalog several similar products for beginning artists<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\"Draw<\/p>\n

The book is designed to help with pattern recognition<\/strong>, which is an important skill for math and problem solving.<\/p>\n

\"Draw<\/p>\n

But to Abby, it’s her very own art kit<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\"Draw<\/p>\n

… and every page is packed with fun<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Draw<\/p>\n

She can work through the drawing activities <\/strong>at her own pace.<\/p>\n

\"Draw<\/p>\n

The illustrations are self-explanatory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Draw<\/p>\n

The assignments start out easy and get progressively more detailed<\/strong> as you work your way through the book.<\/p>\n

\"Draw<\/p>\n

There are 64 pages in all. She’s been doing two or three a day<\/strong>, so it will take her a few weeks to get through the entire thing.<\/p>\n

\"Draw<\/p>\n

Once she’s finished, she’ll be ready and able to create patterned pictures<\/strong> by herself… and she’ll still have her very own set of markers to do it!<\/p>\n
