I love the look of freshly polished furniture<\/strong>, but am amazed at how briefly a good dusting job lasts.<\/p>\n

Either my mother polished the furniture a lot more frequently than I realized growing up, or the dust just didn’t accumulate back then like it does now<\/strong>, because I never remember it building up quite so quickly in the home of my childhood.<\/p>\n

And the truth is, it probably didn’t.<\/p>\n

There were only four of us sharing my childhood home, and we were all out of the house most of the day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

There are ten people living in our house today<\/strong>, and most of us are at home 24\/7.<\/p>\n

Why does that matter? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Because a large percentage of household dust is composed of dead skin cells<\/strong> (some sources say 75-90%<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Ewww! That gives a whole new meaning to the verse<\/strong> we read in Genesis 3:19<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

God made Adam from the dust of the earth, and when He says that we will return to dust, I normally think about that as something that will happen after I die<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In reality, going from dust to dust is a continual process<\/strong>, as well.<\/p>\n

Think about that next time you are polishing furniture or sweeping up dust bunnies<\/strong>!<\/p>\n
