Our son Samuel decided at age 11 that he wanted to learn to play the violin.<\/strong> He tracked down a store that would rent him an instrument to own, found a teacher who would come to our house for lessons, then got up at 5:30 every morning in order to practice for an hour before school.<\/p>\n

He has always been a very self-motivated student!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Samuel<\/p>\n

Although I love classical music and thoroughly enjoyed hearing Samuel practice, only he and his brother David ever learned to play the violin. A few more of our children took guitar lessons, but the majority have focused on learning to play the piano.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Gabriel<\/p>\n

In Psalm 150:4<\/a>, we are told to:<\/p>\n

“Praise Him with timbrel and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.” <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Although the piano is not nearly as portable as a violin or guitar, it is still technically a stringed instrument, and I love hearing my children practice.
\n<\/strong>
\nHere again, we’ve been blessed with a teacher who comes to our house for lessons. She camps out here for two and a half hours every Monday afternoon while the kids take turns sitting at the bench and demonstrating the progress they’ve made since her last visit.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the things I enjoy most is that, in addition to letting the children play the pieces they are most interested in, Miss Judy also encourages them to learn Christian hymns and praise music<\/strong>, which especially lifts my spirit when I hear them rehearsing their songs.<\/p>\n

Music and dancing is such a happy, natural way to praise the Lord, don’t you think? What is your favorite way to praise God in song?<\/strong><\/p>\n
