\"Proverbs<\/p>\n

My husband does not like to go to photography studios, so for the past two decades I’ve taken almost all our family portraits myself<\/a>. I set my camera up on a tripod, frame the shot the way I want, and use a remote to release the shutter.<\/p>\n

In the days before remotes, I would run back and forth to set the timer or would ask a neighbor or extended family member to click the pictures for me.<\/p>\n

That sometimes backfired, though, One year my dad was helping out and knocked the tripod at the very outset of the photo shoot. He tried to set things right again, but when we got the prints back, we realized he had taken two dozen close-ups of our front lawn. Our feet were in the frame, but not our faces.<\/p>\n

If you want things to turn out, you’ve got to actually focus on the thing you’re trying to shoot.<\/p>\n

That goes double at the firing range. My husband did a little target practice with a friend last week, and he remained intently focused on this little piece of paper the entire time that gun was in his hand:<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/a><\/p>\n

Not too shabby for a first-timer, is it?<\/p>\n

God’s Word reminds us that focus is important — and not only with photography and firearms, but in all of life:<\/p>\n

“Let your eyes look directly ahead and let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. Watch the path of your feet and all your ways will be established.” (Proverbs 4:25-26<\/a>)<\/p>\n

When we let lesser things distract us from our primary objective, the outcome is seldom what it could or should be<\/strong>. We must keep careful and consistent watch over where we’re going, ever training our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. (Hebrews 12:2<\/a>)<\/p>\n
