Last summer, my three little guys attended a one-week soccer camp near our house and have been begging to go back ever since.<\/p>\n

\"Soccer<\/p>\n

So I just signed them up to attend again this summer, only this time, their little sister is old enough to join them. And she’s just as excited about the prospect as they are.<\/p>\n

\"Soccer<\/p>\n

It’s not our family’s first foray into soccer. Dad played in high school and was even voted MVP for his team.<\/p>\n

\"Soccer<\/p>\n

But our children’s previous experience with the sport showed no indication that any of them would follow in his footsteps. Some of our kids seemed more interested in picking clover on the sidelines than in chasing the ball across the field.<\/p>\n

\"Soccer<\/p>\n

But last summer was different. At the end-of-the-week campers-v-counselors game, all three of my guys were in the middle of the action for the full time they were on the pitch.<\/p>\n

\"Soccer<\/p>\n

(Of course, it helped that they kept about ten balls in play for the entire game, which gave the hundred-plus players a better chance of actually getting one into the goal.)<\/p>\n

\"Soccer<\/p>\n

Still, rather than remembering all the times they kicked and missed, then giving up, they boys kept right on running, trying, pressing on toward the goal.<\/p>\n

\"Soccer<\/p>\n

And that’s exactly how God wants us to live as well.<\/p>\n

\n\u201c\u2026 one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.\u201d (Philippians 3:13-14<\/a>)<\/h2>\n

Forget your past failures. Learn from your mistakes and stay in the game. Today is a new day. A fresh start. Set your eyes on the prize and press on!<\/p>\n
