{"id":10371,"date":"2015-03-18T06:21:47","date_gmt":"2015-03-18T11:21:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.flandersfamily.info\/web\/?p=10371"},"modified":"2023-03-17T10:18:11","modified_gmt":"2023-03-17T15:18:11","slug":"in-the-word-on-wednesday-proverbs-1320","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flandersfamily.info\/web\/2015\/03\/18\/in-the-word-on-wednesday-proverbs-1320\/","title":{"rendered":"Word on Wednesday: Proverbs 13:20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.flandersfamily.info\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Idea-WW-Prov-13.20.png?resize=760%2C986&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Proverbs 13:20\" width=\"760\" height=\"986\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10372\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.flandersfamily.info\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Idea-WW-Prov-13.20.png?w=760&amp;ssl=1 760w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.flandersfamily.info\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Idea-WW-Prov-13.20.png?resize=600%2C778&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.flandersfamily.info\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Idea-WW-Prov-13.20.png?resize=231%2C300&amp;ssl=1 231w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.flandersfamily.info\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Idea-WW-Prov-13.20.png?resize=250%2C324&amp;ssl=1 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While their older brother was home from medical school last week, my little ones grabbed their Scripture memory flashcards and went through the whole deck, so <strong>he could see how many Bible verses they&#8217;ve learned so far this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And I can tell you, Samuel was pretty impressed with <strong>how easily they recalled what we&#8217;d been studying<\/strong>, just by looking at those little picture prompts on the flashcards.<\/p>\n<p>The verse our family is memorizing this week is <a href=\"https:\/\/biblehub.com\/proverbs\/13-20.htm\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Proverbs 13:20<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Isn&#8217;t that a terrific verse?<\/p>\n<p>Of course, <strong>this proverb is a good reminder to choose our companions wisely, but it applies to far more than friendships<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We also need to be careful about&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>the books we read<\/li>\n<li>the movies we watch<\/li>\n<li>the games we play<\/li>\n<li>the music we listen to<\/li>\n<li>the songs we sing<\/li>\n<li>the websites we visit<\/li>\n<li>the classes we take<\/li>\n<li>the company we keep<\/li>\n<li>the role models we follow<\/li>\n<li>the goals we set<\/li>\n<li>the mentors we consult<\/li>\n<li>the thoughts we entertain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Each of these things is an opportunity to walk in wisdom, as each of these areas has the potential to influence us for good or for bad.<\/strong> To make our lives better or worse. To build our character up or tear it down.
