We’ve been on Spring Break this week.<\/p>\n

We have two children in college, two in dental school, and one in medical school, and — for the first time ever — their various academic calendars synced, so that they were all off at the same time.<\/strong><\/p>\n

They opted to spend the week camping. In the rain.<\/strong> (Evidently, the sun took a spring break, too. I’m not sure where it went, but it hasn’t shown its face in southern Arkansas since Sunday).<\/p>\n

One of my sons told me he’s been lifting weights all semester, but nobody seems to have noticed.<\/strong> However, almost everyone he’s seen during this break has complimented his older brother’s<\/em> muscles and said it looks like he’s <\/em>been working out (which he hasn’t).<\/p>\n

They both thought that was pretty funny, but I’ll bet the younger one works out even harder next semester. The weight training will build his strength and do his body good, even if it doesn’t cause a noticeable change in his build.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And that thought reminds me of this week’s memory verse:<\/p>\n

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.”
\n– Ephesians 6:10<\/a><\/h2>\n

Being strong in the Lord is not a trait that necessarily attracts a lot of attention. It isn’t something you can flex and flaunt like a bodybuilder shows off his muscles.<\/p>\n

No, this is a quiet strength, but a strength that requires great discipline<\/strong>, nonetheless.<\/p>\n

Just as building muscle necessitates a protein-rich diet and lots of exercise, becoming strong in the Lord requires that we repeatedly dig into the meat of God’s Word and exercise our faith by applying that Truth to our daily lives<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
