Fun at Hollywood Wax Museum in Branson

Our family spent some time in Branson, Missouri, this week. It snowed A LOT while we were there, which was beautiful to look at but too cold to spend much time in, so we went in search of fun activities we could do indoors. We found fun to spare at the Hollywood Wax Museum in Branson, a landmark attraction at the center of the Highway 76 strip.

It’s perfect for families, with four attractions for one great ticket price, including an opportunity to rub elbows with the stars in the wax museum.

We had a marvelous time here. The kids especially enjoyed posing for pictures with some of their favorite stars, using the props provided to really feel a part of the action.

Isaac at the helm with Captain Jack Sparrow

I especially love this scene from Star Trek. “Beam us up, Scottie!”

We discovered a few gaps in our children’s homeschool education, though. For instance, Abby had never even heard of I Dream of Jeannie before! We’ll have to fix that ASAP.

Charlie’s Angels was also a new one to her, although it didn’t take her long to learn some of their moves!

Would you look at those muscles on that guy on the right? Where did those come from? He’s only twelve!

Daniel pumps iron with The Rock

I’d be hard-pressed to say which of our kids is the biggest ham, but this place gave them all plenty of opportunities to mug for the camera.

Only a very small fraction of the scenes depicted would I classify as at all scary. Not so much Frankenstein and his bride…

… or even monster snakes and aliens. Probably the creepiest wax figures, in my estimation, were the likenesses of Jack Nicholson and Hugh Hefner.

The All-Access Pass includes a round of miniature golf, although the course was frozen over the day we visited…

… so we elected to stay inside where it was warm and enjoy an extra ride in the 5-D Castle of Chaos, instead.

There were two to pick from — the object was to shoot outlaw robots in one and werewolves in the other.

The 3-D glasses and moving seats made us feel like we were really there in the midst of the imminent threat. Fortunately for the motion-sick-prone members of our group, we were given the option of sitting still while we played instead of being jerked all over the place. It was a blast, either way.

Obviously, some of us are better shots than others. Our daughter-in-law dominated!

After our time in the Castle of Chaos, we went to explore Hannah’s House of Mirrors. With hundreds of mirrored walls and archways and 288 potential turns, this was far more challenging than we expected. It was also a great place for playing Zombie Tag (walk, don’t run) and Hide and Seek.

We had the place to ourselves, so once we’d found our way through the maze and finished playing our games, the attendant offered to time us to see who could get through the quickest. I think our Isaac holds the record with just a little over 60 seconds.

There were several more photo ops outside. We posed for a few of those before we left.

Disclosure: Mom and Dad were given two free All-Access Passes (plus 50% off all our kids’ admissions) as part of a US Family Guide blogger promotion. I agreed to post a review in exchange for our tickets, but the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
