Rejoice and Be Glad (Coloring Page)

Rejoice and Be Glad Coloring Page

I awoke this morning with the remnants of a bad dream playing in my head. But then I remembered today is Sunday, and the words of an old chorus we used to sing at church came rushing in to dispel those unpleasant thoughts and fill my heart with a song instead:

“This is the day (this is the day)
That the Lord hath made (that the Lord hath made)
We will rejoice (we will rejoice)
And be glad in it (and be glad in it)
This is the day that the Lord hath made!
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day (this is the day)
That the Lord hath made.” (Psalm 118:24)

Do you know that song? A friend of mine tells me that in this passage of scripture, “the day that the Lord hath made” is a reference to Jesus’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The Psalmist goes on to say, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. From the house of the Lord we bless you. The Lord is God, and He has made His light shine on us. With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar.” (Psalm 118:26-27, NIV)

I know we don’t officially celebrate Palm Sunday until next week. But the underlying sentiment of the verse holds true, no matter what day of the week it happens to be. Indeed, God made every day. Every day is a gift from Him to be used wisely… and rejoicing in the time we have been given is a biblical response regardless.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4)

So that is the theme of today’s Rejoice and Be Glad coloring page. It may seem a week early to some, but it’s a good reminder, nonetheless.

I hope the day finds your heart rejoicing! May your spirit glad for another opportunity to draw close to God and honor Him in all you do.

  1. Thank you for providing these pictures. Since mid-March I have been mailing out 21 Sunday school lessons because our church has been closed. Older students get word searches and the younger ones get coloring pages that go with the scripture that the Lord has given me to use for the lesson.
