Word on Wednesday: Ephesians 6:12

Ephesians 6:12 memory verse

Here is a great verse to meditate on amid reports of terrorist attacks across the globe.

To quote Haymitch Abernathy, we must “remember who the real enemy is.”

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12

We have an enemy, but that enemy is not our the person on the opposite side of the political aisle or the drug addict who mugs us to support his habit or even the terrorist who highjacks our planes. The real enemy is Satan — the one who comes to steal, kill and destroy. The one who sows division where there should be unity. Who enslaves the drug addict to a life of crime in pursuit of another hit. Who dupes the jihadist into believing he is serving God by killing infidels.

This verse — Ephesians 6:12 — is included in our first set of Scripture Memory Cards. Click the image below to print:

Scripture Memory Flashcards

By the way, I’ll be sharing a new memory verse every Wednesday until I get through all six sets of memory verses I’ve created (so far). I hope this free printable resource will help you and your family hide God’s Word in your heart, just as mine is trying to do this year.

  1. Hi there Doug and Jennifer 👋😊
We use to homeschool together in co-ops. Our kids have been friends as well. I just ran across your page here and am very encouraged, especially since I have grandchildren now at different ages (17yrs, 15yrs, 8yrs, and 5mos) and love what you’ve done here!! I’m very much looking forward to digging deeper into your information and so glad I saw this😊
Love y’all and God bless 🤗

    1. Yes, Teri, I remember exactly who you are. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you!I’m so glad you found our website. Hope you find some helpful resources to use with your grandkids. I know the homeschooling spirit lives on, even after our kids are grown and gone, right?

  2. The scripture says “we wrestle not with flesh and blood” and yet the picture for this scripture is showing actual wrestling with flesh and blood! It’s best to take verses 10-18 of chapter 6 to bring the true picture of what’s happening here. Hear what Paul is saying to the “faithful in Jesus Christ”( Ephesians 1:1b). He’s saying in chapter 5: walk in love, walk in light, walk in wisdom and “being members of His body”. Then chapter 6:10 begins with: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” Children must be taught that this is our strength: the Lord and the power of His might!”Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”(Ephesians 6: 11) It’s best to quote the Bible and what God is saying through Paul to the Ephesians about not wrestling with flesh and blood. David Walters has a terrific children’s book for children with a simple depiction of a child kneeliing in prayer with their full armor on! David Walters is a children’s minister who teaches and demonstrates how the Holy Spirit moves through children too!! “There is no Junior Holy Spirit”(I think that’s one of his quotes!) “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spriit, which is the word of God PRAYING ALWAYS with all prayer and supplication IN THE SPIRIT being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—” (Ephesians 6:17, 18) If your desire is that children do not physically fight, then that would be opportunity to teach on the fruit of the spirit in Galations 5:22-26 and or the love chapter: 1 Corinthians 13. David Walters also has a terrific children’s book on the Fruit of the Spirit! If you desire an adult version of putting on the full armor of God, Lester Sumrall has a terrific Bible Study book of Ephesians 6 too. There is someone with their full armor on the cover too. He has gone to heaven already in the 90’s? His ministry is LeSea Ministries(I think) in the USA.
