The Season of Advent begins today. So even though my new “Keeping Christ in Christmas” blog series won’t officially start until Tuesday, I wanted to share this Behold a Virgin Shall Conceive coloring page with you now. Perhaps it can help focus your heart on the real reason we celebrate Christmas.

This design features the words of Isaiah the prophet:

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14)

I adapted this design from my newly released Joy to the World: A Devotional Journal for Advent.

I’ll be sharing more of these printable pages throughout the month of December. That way, readers won’t need to buy a copy of the book to benefit from the blog series.

However, if you are looking for a way to center your thoughts on Christ this Christmas, or if you want a place to jot down thoughts, goals, memories, prayers, lists and ideas, or if you would like to take up coloring as a stress reliever, then this devotional journal might be just what you need. 🙂

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying working through mine. Although I haven’t yet colored the Behold, a Virgin Shall Conceive design, I did finish these two pages this morning:

Admittedly, I employed a little different style from normal on these, but I was in the mood to try something new.

I normally use Prismacolor colored pencils for most of my artwork — especially when I’m coloring in these journals. Prismacolor makes the cadillac of art pencils, creamy and blendable but vibrant. And I never have to worry about them bleeding through.

But this time, I used some pearlized watercolors. They worked well, too. And as long as I mixed the paint pretty thick, there was no bleed through to the reverse side of the page. That was a nice discovery!

At any rate, I hope you’ll enjoy today’s coloring page. And if you’d rather color in a book than on a looseleaf copy, click on the link below to order a copy of my Advent Journal.
