Are These Dishes Clean or Dirty?

Putting Away Dishes

Have you ever unloaded an entire dishwasher, only to realize as you place the last cup on the shelf, it hadn’t been run?

Or have you loaded dirty dishes on top of clean ones because you couldn’t remember if you started the washer before you went to bed or not?

Want a quick way to tell whether the dishes in your dishwasher are clean or dirty? Use a dry erase marker to write the word DIRTY on the inside of your dishwasher door as soon you’ve finished unloading (test first).

The word will stay there until you run your washer again, at which point it will be rinsed off.

You will know what you’re dealing with as soon as you open the door to your dishwasher: If it says DIRTY, they are. If the door’s clean, then so are the dishes.

This method works best on dishwashers with a stainless steel interior. If yours is made of some other material, try using a grease pencil or a piece of colored chalk.

This simple hack will let you know whether the dishes are clean or dirty -- never get them mixed up again!
