The Flanders Family Update - Fall 2009
School at our house looks a little different this year with two of our boys taking dual-credit classes at the local junior college twice a week. This gives the younger ones more of Mom's undivided attention, but also means more responisbility for the middle kids, who have been filling in for their older brothers at chore time. They're excited about the opportunity, though, as it proves that they, too, are growing up quickly. May the Lord remind us all to cherish the days we have our children at home, for that time indeed is fleeting! Of course, in our family, little ones have been arriving at about the same rate older ones have been leaving... and thankfully, that trend is continuing. We're happy to announce that the next Flanders baby will be here in April, just in time for David and Samuel's high school graduation!

CHARTS - In honor of starting back to school, we've added a selection of math drills to our printable charts page. Use them to help your kids work on computational speed in arithmetic.
BOOKS - We had such an enthusiastic response to the new "What Our Family is Reading" section that we've decided to update it for the fall. Browse the list for titles that may be of interest to you or someone you know.
GAMES - We've also included rules for some of our favorite family games, many of which our kids invented themselves. The cooler weather we're enjoying now is perfect for outdoor play, so we encourage you to try some of these out with your own family soon.
MUSIC - Bethany was home for much of the summer and spent an inordinate amount of that time at our piano, hammering out new songs. She's discovered a talent for writing music, and if you listen between the lines, you can probably figure out what has been inspiring her.... (Incidentally, her songs were written in the reverse order of how they're listed on this site).
God bless and keep you all!
Jennifer
